It's Murder at the Library

Crime scene investigatorsGathering cluesPatrick Library Director Marta Demopoulos says the murder mystery party they hosted in early February for a group from the Base Youth Center "was one of our best events to date". The Center brought 20 child detectives who worked in teams of two to solve the case. Center staff and other volunteers portrayed crime suspects and emceed the event. SSgt Joel Langton (45SW/PA) not only took pictures of the event for the Missileer, but also portrayed the killer. Our staff set up the crime scene, police HQ, and the victim's room for our great "who done it". Marta says everyone had a blast and this is one program that the library will definitely use again in the future.

Chinese Art Display and Lecture

Airman Vito Cipolla with some of his prized Chinese art collectionTo help put patrons in mind of the Chinese New Year in February, Patrick staff set up Chinese art display in the library's main area. The collection of art was generously loaned to the library by Airman Vito Cipolla from his personal collection. The Airman conducted lectures about the displayed items at the library on Feb. 12 (Chinese New Year) and Feb. 19. He set up a display in the library conference room and explained the historical significance of the objects on display and their provenance. Both lectures were very well attended, running beyond the library's normal closing time due to participant questions. The library provided refreshments for all.
