Distinguished Friend Award. The University of Tennessee School of Information Sciences awarded IIa president Bonnie Carroll the Distinguished Friend Award. This was the first such award made by the school and honored Carroll for “her service, support, and guidance to the school over the years…”

Editor of Data Science Journal. John Rumble, IIa Technical Director, has been named editor-in-chief of Data Science Journal, a peer-reviewed journal of the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA) of the International Council for Science (ICSU). The journal publishes papers on the management of data and databases in science and technology.

Military “Thanks” Coin. In December, Lorraine DiCecco was surprised to receive a special thanks from some of our service people in Iraq. The certificate and a special coin noted her “unselfish contributions” for the men and women serving in and around Iraq as she sets up and manages learning resource centers for their use. The coin “was flown high over skies of Iraq in gratitude and thanks for your support.”
