Professional Recognitions

KUDOS:

Patrick AFB Library (Florida)
Marta Demopoulous and Linda Blanchard have received special commendations . Marta received the Service Coin (see photo) for the library's exceptional quality assurance evaluation (QAE). She was also recognized via a letter from a patron for her "professional assistance". Linda also received a commendation resulting from a patron letter. A retired general noted that she "exceeds requirements in every way."

Goddard Space Flight Center Library (Greenbelt, MD)
Taquitha "KeyKey" Jeter, Administrative Specialist, and Uthra Rao, Information Systems Specialist, garnered high praise from the Goddard customers for their assistance setting up the Information Science & Technology Colloquia annual award celebration.

Eglin AFB Combined Customer Support Services (Florida)
The Systems Administration office at Eglin Air Force Base continues to receive rave reviews. Under the leadership of Jodie Owen, the office made quite an impression on the Squadron Commander of the 20 Space Surveillance Squad who heaped praise on Jodie for his assistance far and above what was required. The Squadron Commander also singled out the professionalism of Eglin's Formal Training office of Scott Temple and Mischele de Vos for their quick responses and positive attitudes.

Also at Eglin, Base Education and Training Specialists Grieg McClure and Paula Andrus have been noted for their awesome "knowledge, expertise, and dedication." The Staff Sergeant from the 40th Test Flight Squadron offering the praise called these two IIa staffers "truly wonderful professionals."

On the Personal Side

Personal/Professional Development:

Heather Castleberry, corporate Senior Accountant, and brother Lucas Lloyd both graduated summa cum laude with bachelor of arts degrees from their respective universities in May. Heather earned a 4.0 in her double major of accounting and business, while brother Lloyd earned a 3.97 in Bible and Theology.

June Crowe, corporate Information Specialist, has been elected president of the Southern Appalachian Chapter of the Special Libraries Association for the 2002-2003 term.

Family News:

Eric Williamson, 14-year-old son of OSTI Senior Production Control Specialist Don Williamson, is a World Series player. This year Eric played in two different world series: the USYBA in Knoxville, TN and the IBC in Clearwater, FL. He played for the 14U Knoxville Thunder. They finished fourth in the USYBA world series and they finished second in the IBC world series.

Carl J. and Danielle A. Greene, children of Dan Greene, F.E. Warren AFB Library Systems Administrator, have both been accepted into degree studies for the coming year. Carl will enter the Electrical Engineering division at Texas Tech and Danielle enters the School of Pharmacy at the University of Wyoming. Carl has just completed four years in the Coast Guard, having achieved the rank of E5 and Master Electrical Technician prior to his discharge. Danielle carries a dual major, Pharmacy and Anthropology.

Volunteerism:

Coming Up - Day of Caring: Efforts are under way around the country to generate large volunteer efforts to commemorate the tragedy of 9/11/2001. Here at the corporate office, we'll be participating in a local effort with the United Way "Day of Caring". In the next issue of InfoEdge we'll run a feature about how IIa employees around the country commemorate 9/11, so let your project manager know of your activities.
