Awards and Honors
Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC)
In January 2005, Fuffy Bearden, illustrator,
won the internal quarterly Customer Service Award
for her
outstanding support to the space and missiles business development
efforts. She led
the efforts to prepare and deliver a wide range of professional quality
products including posters, brochures, graphics and display boards
for
numerous high-level symposiums during the period from October through
December. This was in addition to keeping pace with the needs of
hosting various high level dignitaries at AEDC.
DOL Wirtz Labor Library
Ginny Cline, acquisitions librarian,
received the Employee of the Quarter Award in December 2004. After
joining the DOL
library staff in July, she learned and implemented DOL's new electronic
procurement system for library acquisitions and procurement activities,
enabling the library to meet DOL's stepped up deadline for
completing FY 2004 orders.
Langley AFB
In January 2005, Lorraine DiCecco,
coordinator of the learning resources center, received the First
Services Contractor
of the Quarter Award. Among the accomplishments that earned her the
award were her selection as the only paraprofessional
to serve on the Tiger Team that standardized the info structure
for the ACC/AFSOC Library Consortium and her participation
in the facility design for the Learning Resource Center (LRC) in
Qatar.

Staff Milestones
Corporate
In January 2005, Kathryn Johnson, project administration
specialist, achieved
her Competent Toastmaster designation, the first level of distinction
with Toastmasters
International.
In October 2004, Shelaine Curd Hetrick, information
systems specialist, achieved
her Competent Toastmaster designation.
In 2004, Pat Armes was promoted to accounting associate
III and Elizabeth Dickerson was promoted to staff accountant.
Barksdale AFB Library
In August, Deb Matlosz, library clerk,
completed her degree in General Studies with an emphasis in Humanities
in August 2004. She is the mother of Danielle, age 10, and has been
with Barksdale Base Library for a little over 3 years. She is a Library
Clerk with primary responsibilities for Interlibrary Loan and assistance
with Acquisitions.
U.S.G.S.
In November 2004, Nichole McNeely-Kallas,
senior information specialist, won the 2004 ASIST Chapter Member
of the Year Award for the Potomac Valley Chapter and also the 2004
Chapter Event of the Year Award for organizing the program "Taxonomy
and Metadata Strategies for Effective Content Management."

Family News
Corporate
In January, Franciel Azpurua-Linares,
technical information specialist, and
husband Federico expanded their family with the birth of their second
child, son Alexander.
In February, Heather Castleberry, senior
accountant, and husband Brian welcomed their first child, daughter
Kelby Nicole,
into the world.
In February, Cheryl Beams, staff accountant,
was thrilled to learn that son Joshua was headed home from Iraq.
AEDC
Brett Turner, son of AEDC's Kent Turner, participated
in the Statewide Job Shadowing day and was the only "job
shadower" for
IIa at Arnold. The photo shows Brett with mentor David Housch unloading
a high speed motion picture camera from a Minuteman Stage II rocket
motor test firing in AEDC test cell J6.
