Small Business Administrator’s Award of Excellence
In July, the U.S. Small Business Administration presented IIa with its Award of Excellence for “outstanding contribution and service to the nation by a small business.” The award is the result of IIa being named the small business prime contractor of the year at Eglin Air Force Base (see April 2006 InfoEdge).
PRSA Community Service Award. In April, the
Volunteer Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (in East Tennessee) selected IIa President Bonnie C. Carroll as the winner of their Community Service Award — presented annually to a non-public relations individual or organization for using public relations practices to improve life in East Tennessee.
Powell to Serve on University Advisory Board
IIa’s Senior Vice President Pat Powell will serve on the University of Tennessee School of Information Science Advisory Board. The 19-member board includes the Chicago Tribune editor of News Research and Archives, the Harvard Business School Baker Library director, and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory library director.
Bennett Receives Eglin Merit Coin
Dorothee Bennett received a merit coin from 96 Air Base Wing Commander Col. Dean Clemons at the All-American Hero Picnic on July 7th for her “superior efforts in planning and executing the All-American Hero Picnic” as part of Eglin's summer reading activities.

Jordan Scott, Eglin library assistant Carol Scott’s son, has enrolled in OWC Collegiate High School, which awards an Associate of Arts degree at end of 12th grade.
Tina Bennett, daughter of Eglin Library tech service manager Dorothee Bennett, competed in the swimming competition in the August Junior Olympics in Virginia.
SSgt Brandon Woodward, husband of Eglin library assistant Monica Woodward, is in Mosul, Iraq, running convoys with the Army.
