Best in Command (DoD), 2002 Federal Library of the Year Award (NASA)
IIa
has an award-winning reputation for managing libraries, information
and document
management centers, and research services. Our approach
is to focus on exceptional customer service and
continuous innovations
in information access and resources, while maintaining efficiencies
to reduce government operating costs.
Library Management
IIa manages libraries and provides information support services for
the U.S.
Air Force, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA),
and the Department of Labor.
- Air Force
- IIa staff
provide full facility operation for Air Force Base (AFB) libraries under
four major Air Force commands.
Five of those come under a multi-wing procurement of five libraries
on five bases with the Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), dubbed a “model” contract
with exceptional ratings. At a highly sensitive
international science library, our staff acquire, catalog, and manage
materials in over 16 languages and provide expert translation services.
Our operations have garnered numerous "Best in Command" awards
and exceptional performance ratings.
NASA
- At the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC)
Library, IIa is helping move
the library team and service to a knowledge management environment.
We manage $1.5 million in materials in all
formats; provide
outreach services to agency scientists, engineers, and technical personnel;
and perform
technology assessments, user services activities,
digital archiving/preservation and technology projects, and special
research and response support services. Under IIa management, the
library
was named
2002 Federal Library of the Year.
Department
of Labor
- As a team, IIa staff provided SIRSI
systems management, technical services, reference, and legal
and other research services.
Information Center Management
IIa staff provide print and electronic access to DOE’s Freedom
of Information Act (FOIA) document and to Administrative Records of cleanup
activities on the Oak Ridge Reservation, as required under the Comprehensive
Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA)
and Resource
Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). IIa staff also ensure that
all documents undergo the appropriate operational security (OPSEC) review
prior to public
release.
Research Services
Our staff have
compiled research studies of national healthcare infrastructure
of more than 60 nations and have conducted studies on avian flu. Using open source data, we gather epidemiological
information, civilian and military medical infrastructure, education
and training of foreign healthcare workers,
disaster response capabilities, etc. We have also conducted
two in-depth analyses: Chinese Underground
Construction Industry and Camouflage, Concealment, Deception,
and Obscurants.
