Best in Command (DoD), 2002 Federal Library of the Year Award (NASA)

IIa has an award-winning reputation for managing libraries, information and document management centers, and research services. Our approach is to focus on exceptional customer service and continuous innovations in information access and resources, while maintaining efficiencies to reduce government operating costs.

Library Management

IIa manages libraries and provides information support services for the U.S. Air Force, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the Department of Labor.

Air Force
IIa staff provide full facility operation for Air Force Base (AFB) libraries under four major Air Force commands. Five of those come under a multi-wing procurement of five libraries on five bases with the Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), dubbed a “model” contract with exceptional ratings. At a highly sensitive international science library, our staff acquire, catalog, and manage materials in over 16 languages and provide expert translation services. Our operations have garnered numerous "Best in Command" awards and exceptional performance ratings.

NASA
At the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Library, IIa is helping move the library team and service to a knowledge management environment. We manage $1.5 million in materials in all formats; provide outreach services to agency scientists, engineers, and technical personnel; and perform technology assessments, user services activities, digital archiving/preservation and technology projects, and special research and response support services. Under IIa management, the library was named 2002 Federal Library of the Year.

Department of Labor
As a team, IIa staff provided SIRSI systems management, technical services, reference, and legal and other research services.

Information Center Management

IIa staff provide print and electronic access to DOE’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) document and to Administrative Records of cleanup activities on the Oak Ridge Reservation, as required under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). IIa staff also ensure that all documents undergo the appropriate operational security (OPSEC) review prior to public release.

Research Services

Our staff have compiled research studies of national healthcare infrastructure of more than 60 nations and have conducted studies on avian flu. Using open source data, we gather epidemiological information, civilian and military medical infrastructure, education and training of foreign healthcare workers, disaster response capabilities, etc. We have also conducted two in-depth analyses: Chinese Underground Construction Industry and Camouflage, Concealment, Deception, and Obscurants.
