IIa Employees Contribute $5K for Hurricane Relief
Oak Ridge, TN. Employees from Information International Associates’ project locations in 10 states and the United Kingdom pooled their dollars for hurricane relief to the tune of $5,000. In a message of gratitude to employees Thursday, President Bonnie C. Carroll told employees, “It is a wonderful thing to see such a huge outpouring of community support from you all.”
But Carroll was not surprised by the large stack of checks and cash sent in by employees. Community spirit is one of the company’s core values. The collection of funds through the company was just one of the many ways IIa staffers answered the call for help. Carroll noted the direct personal support provided by IIa staff at Barksdale, Eglin, and Moody Air Force Bases, “A special recognition goes to the work of our library staff who have helped evacuees from the Gulf, not only by allowing them access to library computers/telephones to find relatives, but also providing shoulders to cry on and willing ears to listen to their stories.” IIa-run libraries on other military bases became collection points for clothes, books, toys, and other humanitarian items. Oak Ridge and other project staff also contributed their time and finances through their churches and other charitable organizations.
