Associates, Inc. (IIa) in Oak Ridge has named a new Director for
Information Technology (IT) Services and the company’s first
Chief Information Officer (CIO), Deborah York. Ms. York has over
25 years experience including managing multi-million dollar projects
in the information field. During her career, she has managed systems
implementations and migrations, led strategic planning of information
infrastructures, developed knowledge management approaches, and
worked with both physical and digital libraries.
As part of her responsibilities, Ms. York will manage the company’s
information services support contract with the Department of Energy’s
Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) in Oak Ridge.
She also oversees the company’s Web development work as well
as the staff working on projects with the U.S. Geological Survey’s
National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) (www.nbii.gov/geographic/international/)
and it’s Southern Appalachian Information Node (SAIN) (sain.nbii.gov/).
SAIN is developing state-of-the-art graphical information systems
in support of the environmental and ecological infrastructure of
the southern Appalachian region.
As president of the locally-owned information management and services
