IIa’s Rascoe promoted to systems librarian
at AEDC’s technical library
Oak Ridge, TN. Information International Associates has named Fred Rascoe as the new systems librarian for the Arnold Engineering Development Center’s Technical Library. He comes to the position from IIa’s corporate office in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In Oak Ridge, Rascoe worked as content manager for the Southern Appalachian Information Node, one of IIa’s projects for the U.S. Geological Survey. In that position, he provided content and knowledge management support, including cataloging, metadata creation, and website support (content creation, editing, and site maintenance). Rascoe also served as the assistant director for the Association for Library and Information Science Education while it was under IIa management. ALISE is the professional organization for university and college professors in that field.
Rascoe is looking forward to this next step in his career. “This is a great time to be a librarian, “ he said. “I’m excited to be a part of the information environment at the AEDC. I know we can do a lot of great things here.”
He joins Stuart Gaetjens, who took over as library director in February, and library staff Sharon Butcher, Mary Harvey, and Linda Love.
Rascoe is nearing completion of a technical certificate in geographic information systems from Pellissippi State Technical Community College. He is a 2004 graduate of the University of Tennessee’s School of Information Science with a master’s degree. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from UT, which he completed following a year as an exchange student at the University of Manchester in England. His wife, Zoe, is from London, England, and is completing her master’s degree in information science at UT. Fred, Zoe, and their son Cyrus, will make their home in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
